An Old, New Favorite Thing.
Friday, February 5, 2010
I know this brush has been around for 100 plus years (since 1885 to be exact) and I have always wanted one. My cousin growing up had one and her hair was always so pretty. With my hair being so long it is a nightmare to brush.
Lisa had one in Dallas and I become obsessed. I came right home and ordered one...
It is SOOOOO AWESOME!!! Lily wanted me to sit in bed last night and just brush her hair. So sweet!
Just for that its worth every penny.
Ordered through www.Upromise.com so at least I could feel good about saving for girl's college education!

Oviedo, Florida
Thursday, February 4, 2010
My dad sent me this video of the town I grew up in called Oviedo. I wanted to post it because they did a really good job (plus our family's company Nelson and Company is a sponsor ;)). My family still lives here and the community is rich in Floridian history.
To learn more about Oviedo, FL check out www.OviedoTraditons.com

We planted a garden.
Wednesday, February 3, 2010
Lily, Claire, Eve and I planted a garden. It was so much fun. Lily was a great help. She wants to go out there every day to "see if it growed." Kids are so cute. Here are some pic's.

The Big D!
Tuesday, February 2, 2010
A bunch of my fellow Alpha Delta Pi's from The University of Florida
live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. It is a place I have always wanted to go.
Lisa my BFF picked me up and our first stop (so I could check it off my bucket list) was the flagship Neiman-Marcus in downtown Dallas. I was in heaven. The store was beautiful and I was not disappointed. Everyone was so sweet, with lots of good ole' Texas hospitality.
The guy in the shoe department said "Honey, just try on as many shoes as you would like. I am not busy." Ummm...that could get a girl in trouble... I didn't shoe shop but I did get the girls their Easter dresses.
Thanks to Lisa we got rooms at Hotel ZaZa. So we went back there and checked in, and had a martini at the bar to catch up.
We meet up with our other girlfriends for dinner and drinks at Victor Tango's. Which was a great suggestion from my friend Tiffany. VT has a great vibe, lots of young people (which is always fun for me because I live in a retirement area) and good tapas. We all had so much fun hanging out and catching up. Later that night we went to this hip lounge called Candle Room. Super chill, fire place, couches and the DJ was awesome.
The next day we lounged around at the hotel (this is such a luxury for me having two little ones) and then went shopping at NorthPark Center. WOW! Might have been some of the best shopping ever. Anything you wanted/needed could be found in this mall. It was Awesome. I think I am the last person in the world to know that JCrew makes kids clothes call CrewCuts. Everything is so cute! I went a little crazy for Lily. Everything is ruffled, sequined and sparkles. I loved it!
(Lily in her new clothes!)
Later that night my friend Jenny was so great and got us tickets to the Mavericks game. It was fun...we spent most of our time in the bar...that's what happens when you haven't seen good friends in a while you lose track of time...
We went to dinner at Ocean Prime. It was just what we needed a good steak, great service and cool ambiance. All the waiters had on white jackets. There website calls it "The Modern American Supper Club." Couldn't have said it better myself.
Sunday my flight didn't leave till late so we went to Lucky's where I are Waffles and Chicken Fried Chicken! Yup you read me right Waffles and Chicken Fried Chicken. I had never heard of such a thing until I got to Dallas. I guess it's their thing. It was on every menu. So I did as the Dallasions do and I ordered me some Waffles and Chicken. It might have been the best meal I have ever eaten. I had to take a picture just because it was so interesting. It comes with gravy!
Then we tried to find GWB's house. He lives in Preston Hollow. This area is gorgeous! This is as close as we could get. Surprised Secret Service didn't get us. LOL. It was on serious lock down ;) Then went to Highland Park Village, for more great shopping.
I absolutely loved this city. I came home and told Big Wally that I would move there in a heart beat. I think we might try and go back in the fall together and see the Redskins (Wally's Fav Team) play the Cowboys in their new famous stadium {wink wink that's how I sold it at least!}
...fixed all my spelling mistakes, I think?!?!? ahhh....never ending :)

I Triple HEART Ryan Seacrest!
Thursday, January 14, 2010
Yeah! American Idol is back! I have to tell you, last summer I was writing the show off because Paula wasn't coming back but now after watching the last two days I am taking it back.
First and foremost Ryan I have missed you. I think he is one of the funniest, wittiest, best dressed people in Hollywood, not to mention he isn't bad to look at either!!! My parents are addicted to AI also (there are time restrictions now on when we can call) and my Mom loves RS. Since they both share the same birth place (Atlanta) she thinks she knows him and has even told me he is a distant cousin. Ummm...Yea, I think I will have to get the family tree out to verify that one {wink wink.}
Tuesday
Anyways, Posh was interesting wasn't she? She was really sweet and I loved it when she gave Simon a little attitude and he didn't say anything back but seriously what was she wearing in her hair the first day?!? and HOLY SMOKES is that girl skinny, WOW!!! I mean I am all for skinny but she's about to float away.
A few of my favs from Boston are...
Amedeo DiRocco: Man that guy loves some Italian food...
Bosa Mora: The guy from Nigeria. I loved it that his dad cried and they said God is great. How sweet.
Ashley Rodreiguez: Thought she had a good voice and reminded me a little of Rhianna.
Leah Laurenti: Sweet girl. Great Voice.
Wednesday
Mary J. Blige was guest host. Dang she has some awesome arms. Loved the yellow but was it just me or did she have a little attitude? Wasn't that impressed with the talent.
But here are couple of my favs...
Vanessa Wolfe: This girl had me at "I am a bridge jumper." Interesting and cool. I would freak (but still probably try it) not a huge heights person.
Guitar Girl: Loved her personality. Darling when she said "Come on Simon your gorgeous" BINGO! Her ticket awaited.
Mallory: Great voice even better hair.
I am now going to use this line (per Simon) to Lily when she asks for something..."It is a resounding NO!"
Till Next week...

Haiti Relief...
Wednesday, January 13, 2010
My day continued today the same as usual. Got up this am went to boot camp, grocery store, Lowes, our rental house, checked status of Lane Kiffin moving back to USC {yikes}, met a girlfriend at Coffee Bean... not really paying much attention to the news. When I got home I turned on the news and had to turn it off because it bought such heartache.
While I was lying in my daughters bed tonight trying to get her to go to sleep, all I could think about was, how grateful I was the roof was not caving in on top of us...what a desperate feeling that must be, not being able to protect your own child.
After they were down I went directly to my computer and made a donation to Compassion International. My children, husband, family and friends are the only things that mean anything to me. I could not imagine them being taken away in a few seconds. I am always so grateful for my blessed life but tragedy like this reminds me even more.
I usually do not write post on current events but everyone who can, should try and donate something to the people in Haiti, who are suffering such despair and sadness tonight.
I always donate through Compassion International at www.compassion.com because I know that they are a wonderful organization but here are a couple of other places.
www.SalvationArmy.org

20% of sales at www.LilysLaundryBoutique.com now through Sunday will be donated to Haiti Relief!
Text Haiti to 90999 to donate $10 to American Red Cross..saying they have already raised $ 4 Million this way...AWESOME!
Blessing to all your families.

The Holidays. Part Tres. 5 Degrees and Counting.
Tuesday, January 5, 2010
We did all the touristy things Michigan Ave, The Bean, Oprah's Studio, original Marshall Fields... We rode the bus and train everywhere.
We dined at couple of places off the beaten path that we loved. The first is called Hot Chocolate {isn't that the coolest name?} It's located in Wicker Park. They had the BEST coffee I have ever tasted. My hubby went with the "Medium" hot chocolate and it was a hit too! Breakfast was divine...The restaurant's decor reminded me of Napa, very modern Americano...if you are ever in Chicago and looking for a great breakfast spot go there!!!
Hope everyone has a blessed and prosperous 2010!
