White: My new favorite balance of color!

Right now I am into white.  I still need my splashes of color but white (especially white walls) seems to make everything so 

modern, crisp and clean.

Did you know: White is a balance of color in light. The colors impinge and overlay upon each other in such perfection that a wonderful composite emerges. We call the composite: white.

When you see white, you see all the colors in balance.

National Smores Day!

Did you know that today is National Smores Day?  

I didn't either until I saw a post over at Celebrations at Home.  

We are at the beach and have been making a lot of smores lately.  

My daughter Lily actually spotted these 

Jumbo Marshmellows at Target the other day.  

They are so much fun!  

They're huge and they make the best smores.

Sloppy Joes!

Need an easy idea for dinner?  How about Sloppy Joes!  You can buy seasoning organic, use turkey instead of beef, add two sides of veggies and voile....an easy, yummy low fat dinner ;)

Summer Cocktail: Star Dazzler

 

I needed a Adult Only Summer Cocktail for the birthday party and after looking at a bunch I came to the conclusion that the one my mom makes would be the best....

It's not super sweet and I got LOTS and LOTS of compliments on it!

For Christmas my mom calls it Kris Kringle and for the summer she calls is the Star Dazzler ;)

I emailed her for the recipe and this is what she sent me...
I laughed out loud at the last sentence....

You may have to play around with these ingredients a little, since I don't have my recipe here (she was in Chicago visiting my sister):

 
I use the liter bottles of the soda:

Ginger ale

Fresca

Pink Grapefruit Juice, fresh, not canned...Tropicana has a good one in cold juice section

Bitter lemon.
 

Use equal parts of everything but the bitter lemon...I would guess a 3rd to each whole part.

I also add, fresh fruit slices, lemons, limes, oranges, just to make it pretty.

you can add, maraschino cherries or a splash of grenadine if you like for color...

 
It is a refreshing drink!  Don't get loaded..

This is what I did...
1/2 1.75 Liter Bottle of Vodka (Can use rum or Gin too)
1 1 Liter Ginger Ale
1 Liter of Regular Fresca
1 Liter of Fresh Grapefruit Juice
1 10 oz Bottle of Canada Dry Bitter Lemon
1 10 oz Jar of Maraschino Cherries
2 Lemons cut up for decoration

Backyard Birthday Bash!

 Both of my girls have summer birthdays so we threw them a joint  party over the weekend.  We live in the desert and it's super hot so our theme was a "Backyard Birthday Bash!"

 We had swimming, a slip and slide, a jumpy house, a snow cone machine, an ice cream cake and more... 

The printables gave it a modern Circus/Fair feel.  I used different fonts and colors.  It was fun not to be limited on color. 

We served corn dogs and chips (which went with our Circus feel).

The kids a blast and I did too putting everything together.

Well... this is what I imagine my life to be except in all reality I am still in my pajamas at 4 PM, without my hair brushed, spit up all over me, freaking out at the mess my kids have made.

Oh well.... a girl can dream right?

Southern Summer Side: SUCCOTASH

This is a great side dish for dinner.   

It pairs perfect with rice, gravy, chicken or pork chops.

 

2 c. fresh or frozen corn (cooked)
2 c. lima or shell beans (cooked)
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 tablespoons butter 

1/4 cup whipping cream

 

Heat Corn and Lima Beans. 

Season with salt and pepper, butter and cream. 

All Done!  Yummy!

 

Summer Dessert: Grilled Peaches!

This is so easy and so yummy!  My hubby loved them.  

Get some summer peaches.  Cut in half and pit.  Sprinkle some cinnamon, nutmeg and a little sea salt on them and pop them on the grill until they are soft.  

I used my new Grill Pan that I am a huge fan of because I don't have to be outside in the 120 degrees heat all summer and can still get the same effect as my grill.   

You could add some ice cream to your peaches too!

Bugaboo Missoni

I am NOT shopping for a new stroller...I have 4 and don't need one more...but if I was...I would be buying this TO DIE FOR Bugaboo designed by Missoni...

A stroller doesn't get cooler then this!
