El Toro!

Friday, June 18, 2010

My husband is a twin and thus he loves a competition. We were invited to an engagement party where you had to make a specialty drink and the winners drink is going to be served at the wedding. Cute huh? When my hubby saw the invite it was game on!

Rewind....The two of us spent Memorial Day weekend in Vegas at the Bellagio (one of my fav hotels) and they had this drink called Toro!

It is basically a Vodka Mojito with a splash of Red Bull! It was so yummy...so this is where we stole our inspiration from!  Making with vodka instead of rum makes the drink less sweet and lighter ;) Perfect fresh summer cocktail.

Side Note!  WE WON ;)

Here's the recipe..
2 1/2 oz Vodka
3 Fresh Mint Sprigs
2 tbsp Sugar (I used Raw Cane Sugar)
2 tbsp Fresh Lime Juice
Soda Water
Splash of Red Bull
  1. Muddle the mint, sugar and lime juice in a glass filled with ice
  2. In a martini shaker, shake the vodka and soda water up and pour on top on ice
  3. Splash the Red Bull on top

Yummy Yogurt Treats

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

Today was Lily's last day of school.
They were having a luau and water day (isn't that fun)
and we didn't get to make it because she has been sick ;(

Summer's here and it's hot...So we made some yummy treats.
My mom use to make for these for us every summer.
Super easy and a great alternative to Popsicle's.
 What you need:
1 container of yogurt (i use organic non-fat vanilla)
1 can pineapple chunks
bananas, blueberries (or any other fruit you like)
1 can maraschino cherries
1 bag mini marshmallows
baking cups (i like silicone ones, they don't stick)
mix all together in a bowl
pour into cups and freeze!

Super Easy and Yummy.  Perfect for little hands.

LLBB is making some changes...more streamlined and little different format.  Keep checking back to see our new look!

I've gone Red, White and Blue Crazy!

Thursday, June 10, 2010

I love Fourth of July. It's one of my favorites holidays. Especially now that CS has an early July B-Day we will celebrate both. I have started to stock up and look at ALL the great goodies I found at WAL-MART! Yeap! That's right.  I ventured in there yesterday and found all this great stuff.
All these items were $5 and under.

Matching suits for the girls. $5 a piece. Holy Moly!

My favorite are the solar lights that you stick in your yard.  A must if you are having a party! What a festive entrance you can make with these. Lights 2 for $3!
They have ice molds (that make stars) bowls, cups, pitchers, decorations, glow sticks (fun for the kiddos), towels, beach balls, floats for your pool and more.  If you are having a party, go to Wal-Mart.  The creative options are endless!

Let's Organized, Organized!

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

As I write this title all I can hear is Oliva Newton John in my head. LOL

I have a thing for everything in its place. I had this mess of pictures and searched and searched to find the perfect organization system for them. I finally found these great double photo keepers by iris at www.spacesavers.com.  They are acid free and individually compartmentalized so you can organize your photo's inside to your liking.  I got out my label maker and got to work....

Here's what is started like...

And here's what it ended up like...
So much better! This weekend www.Spacesavers.com is having a sale and you can get up to 25% off your order.  Happy Organizing!

Sweet Treats!

Monday, May 24, 2010

We were invited over to a dinner/playdate at friend's house the other night.  They have two girls that are close to L and C's  ages so it is was a lot of fun.   As a little "thanks for having us to play" Lily and I made "treat jars" for their two little girls.

These are super easy to make and are adorable.  I found these  great labels download-able over at www.eighteen25.blogspot.com (my new favorite blog).  I tweaked the labels in photoshop to personalize them for each girl and then printed them out on sticker paper that I use for my shipping labels.

I used mason jars (which you can buy at your local grocer or  restaurant supply) filled them with candy.  Lollipops for the baby and Good n Plentys for the older little girl.  I tied  grosgrain ribbon around the jars and made "Love" labels that I hole punched and slipped through the ribbon.  Bingo!  All done and a great little love gift.  Lily loved helping me and giving it to her sweet friend.

Now I am working on slanted treat jars for her teachers for the end of the year.  Will post them as soon as I am done :)

"Hostess with the Mostess"

Sunday, May 23, 2010

I love giving and receiving hostess gifts. I always try to come up with something creative. I made this flower arrangement as one. It was so simple. I got a glass vase. Filled the bottom with seashells, sea glass and clear scatter crystals. I picked yellow roses (at the local grocery) because they were the perfect color yellow. I added a decorative butterfly, some crystallized twigs and a ribbon. When the flowers die all the hostess has to do is add new ones and she will always have a pre-made arrangement. Be creative with what you add in bottom.  You could do rocks, glitter, glass and more.

"Goldie" Our Newest Family Member!

Friday, May 21, 2010

We have a new family member. Goldie! Yes, that right. A red, purple and blue male Beta Fish named Goldie. Kids are so funny. The fish stared off named "Cuckoo" (one of my favorite books mind you) and then by the end of the night ended up as "Goldie."

My hubby had a present waiting for Lily today when she came to his office! She was over the moon. Ran around his desk "Oh My Gosh! Thank you Daddy and I have a present for you too! A dinosaur hug! "

I thought oh great one more thing I have to take care of but this little guy's water only has to be changed once a month and he eats the plants roots, so no need for food. Hola!
