Botanical Garden Party Theme.

I have a running list of printables that "one day" I want to accomplish and this is one on the list.  I have a love of botanical prints.  I got my first pair, as a "vacation memory" from my parents when they took us on a trip to London in 1999.  I remember picking them out vividly.  They are now hanging in Claire's room.  I have also started a collection of "Lillies" for Lily. 

So when I saw this party on Celebration at Home I was excited.  This party is for a 1 year old all the way in the Phillipines. I just think it is so beautiful.  What do you think?

Decorating: Navy Blue Wall Obession

I have a navy blue wall obsession. I can't help it and I don't think I will get it out of my system till I have one. Here are some pics that are inspiring me right now...

I have 4 colors up on my walls...I think I have one picked called "Nautical Sea " I am thinking I am going to do my navy blue room with a pop of Orange...What do you think?

Aren't blue and orange two of the best colors in the world...especially to us GATORS!

Valentine's Day Cake Pops

Valentine's Day Bear Cake Pops

This came to my inbox last week and before I opened it I thought "Yeah, so cute! I will have to make these for Lily's class for Valentine's Day." I was thinking (before I saw the pics) they would be like cute little balls with icing and red and pink sprinkles. Wrong... I don't think I will attempt this on my first "cake pop" experiment but I am determined one day to make a simple cake pop (i.e. a ball with icing and sprinkles *wink*wink*).  Thought you would enjoy a little "eye cake" this morning.   Click here to see how she does it ;)  Happy Cake Popping!

Queen of Hearts by Celebrations at Home

I find this so fun!  It was a party done by Chris over at Celebrations at Home and it is great! Think of all the possibilities?!?!?  I think it would be really interesting as a grown-ups only Valentine's Day Dinner.  Maybe throw the King of Spades in there....Go check out Chris's blog!  She is crazy talented.  I wished I lived closer to her so she could throw party for me!

Sweet Buns ;)

I have been craving cinnamon buns for a bit and decided to make some of my own and I thought I would share.  I got the recipe here!

Recipe calls put put all ingredients in a bread machine just to rise but you don't have to do this.  An alternative is just to knead your dough really well and place in the oven.  Here some great tips on how to get dough to rise. 

Ingredients.

Busted out my bread machine I got 9 years ago for a wedding present.

Risen dough.

Greased my Emile Henry Ruffled Pie Dishes from Williams and Sonoma.

Rolled out the dough.

Filled center with the butter, cinnamon and brown sugar mixture.

Rolled on two fingers into buns.

Placed in pie dish and baked.

Iced and Served!

 On a side note.  I made my icing differently. I just used 1 cup of powered sugar and 6 Teaspoons of milk to make the icing.  I was out of cream cheese and seemed a little lighter...as if it matters! *wink*

I love looking at table settings, decor and party tips.  I am always curious where people get their "party supplies" and what they cost...I collect lots and lots of stuff to decorate with and I am always on the look out for ribbon, table scatter, glitter, candles, plates, napkins and anything else decorative I can get my hands on.

So here's the run on down on our Valentine's Day Decor....

Most of it is in your local Targets $1 Spot right now!

Heart Table Scatter in Pink, Purple and Clear $2.50

Foam Hearts and "Love" $1

Valentine's Day Pencils $1

Valentine's Day Stamps $1

How cute are these little vases 3 for $2.50.  

Fill them with milk add a straw and serve them with your cupcakes.

Glass Mason Jars from
Target, Grocery or Walmart about $8 for pack of 12.

Caspari Heart Plates and Napkins $8 for 8 (These are on the expensive side but add a really cute element to your table.) You can find at your local stationary store, gourmet grocer or
online at www.polkadotdesign.com

Galvanized Tin Buckets $1-$5. I grab these anytime I can find them.  Target has them sometimes in  in $1 spot.  You can also find them at Lowes, Home Depot, Micheal's or Joanne's but they are much more expensive.

Tissue Paper. I order this is bulk.  Nashville Wraps has the best selection and pricing I have found.  They have great things from Gift Boxes, Cello Bags, Chinese Take Out Boxes and much more.

Another great place to find cute inexpensive "party decor" is the dollar store.  They actually have some really well designed things.
